An escorted tour of gardens, stately homes and places of interest in Cumbria based at the 3 star Cumbria Grand Hotel in the charming Victorian resort of Grange-over-Sands. This gracious hotel is set in 20 acres of gardens and parkland and overlooks Morecambe Bay.


Day 1 – Monday

Morning departure from Pembrokeshire by luxury air conditioned coach with enhanced legroom to ensure comfort. Arrive at Grange-over-Sands late afternoon

Day 2 – Tuesday

Morning visit to Levens Hall, an astonishing topiary garden, 17th century parterres, rose, herb and herbaceous borders. In the afternoon to Holker Hall, one of Britain’s best loved stately homes with very fine interiors and extensive, spectacular garden famed for fragrant shrubs, roses and seasonal flowers as well as a wild flower meadow and water cascade

Day 3 – Wednesday

Morning visit to Holehird, the Lakeland Horticultural Society Garden. Panoramic views of Lake Windermere, specimen trees, shrubs, rock and heather gardens, alpine house and herbaceous borders. Afternoon visit to the National Trust Sizergh Castle, originally medieval with tudor, Elizabethan and Georgian extensions. Exceptional oak panelled interiors, period furniture, silver china, Jacobean relics and many notable portraits. The estate includes a lake, ancient woodland, formal lawns, Japanese Acers, rose and Dutch garden, Sizergh is home to one of the largest collections of ferns in Britain as well as an award winning limestone rock garden

Day 4 – Thursday

Morning visit to Dalemain historic house and gardens which contains, behind its Georgian façade, a wealth of tudor and medieval rooms and buildings. Early knot garden, walled garden, richly planted herbaceous borders, apple walk and old fashioned roses. In the afternoon to Hutton-in-the-forest, a house of six periods from the mid-14th century to the mid-19th century. Garden contains traditional herbaceous borders in the opulent Edwardian style, walled gardens, topiary, ponds and cascades.

Day 5 – Friday

Free day to enjoy the Lake District at your own pace or join an optional excursion to Dove Cottage, Grassmere, home of William Wordsworth. Then to the world of Beatrix Potter. Afternoon to Brantwood Gardens, Coniston, with its unique and beautiful mountainside gardens set in a 250 acre wood estate with spectacular views

Day 6 – Saturday

Morning cruise to relax on Lake Ullswater taking in the wonderful views and wildlife. Afternoon Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, Lakeland’s oldest, longest and most scenic railway.

Day 7 – Sunday

Home via Bridgemere Garden Centre, Nantwich Cheshire. arrive home early evening
