Gardens, Trains & Snowdonia (THIS TOUR IS NOW FULL)

4 Days – Departing Sunday 15th May 2016.

An escorted tour of glorious National Trust Properties. A journey on the Welsh Highland Railway and a return train ride to the summit of Snowdon. Staying at The Winchmore Hotel in the queen of resorts – Llanduno.

Day 1 – Sunday

Morning departure from Pembrokeshire by luxury air conditioned coach with enhanced leg room to ensure extra comfort, supplied by Richard’s Brothers of Cardigan. Pick up along the way. Mid-afternoon join the Welsh Highland Railway at Porthmadog and travel through the countryside – the heart of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park to Caernarfon. Later continue to our Hotel, The Winchmore, a family owned Hotel, spacious dining room, lifts to every floor, fully licenced bar, rooms are decorated to a very high standard, many rooms with sea views. Perfectly located to access the many attractions of Llanduno.

Day 2 – Monday

Morning visit to National Trust Plas Newydd House and Gardens. This enchanting 18th Century Mansion sits on the shores of the Menai Strait, with breath taking views of Snowdonia. The surrounding Gardens include an Australasian arboretum, formal Italianate terraces and important rhododendron collection. At the heart of the 1930’s interior of the Marquess of Angelsey’s ancestral family home is Rex Whistler’s 58 foot fantasy landscape mural.

Afternoon to National Trust Penrhyn Castle Gardens. The Castle built by George Hay Dawkins Pennant between 1820 and 1845. Superb views over Snowdonia. The Wall Garden is intimate in scale full of unusual plants, ornamental ponds and one of the oldest Dawn Redwoods in Britain. In May the Rhododendron Walk is at its best.

Day 3 – Tuesday

This morning we travel to Llanberis and take a return train ride to the summit of Snowdon, weather permitting, if you do not want to do train ride you can deduct £20 from price. Late return to Llanduno to spend some free time.

Day 4 – Wednesday

Home to Pembrokeshire via National Trust Bodnant Gardens. A breath taking Garden with grand terraces and views of Snowdonia, a valley of giant conifers and cascading water and Rhododendrons at their best in May. Also view the new Garden which open March 2015.

Pick-up points: Newport, Fishguard, Wolfscastle, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Kilgetty, Narberth, Penblewin, Cardigan and Aberystwyth.

Price includes all Coach Travel (extra leg room coach) Hotel half-board, admissions, railway journeys and services of a professional Gardener tour host throughout. NB: You need to arrange your own Travel Insurance on payment of the balance.
