Gardens of South Western Ireland

6 day escorted tour, overnight Waterford and Killarney. Departs Sunday 5th september 2004.

Day 1: Sunday

Depart around mid-day, pick up route : Kilgetty Milton, Pembroke, Neyland, Steynton, Johnston. Haverfordwest and Fishguard. Ferry to Rosslare and onto Bridge Hotel, Waterford for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Monday

After breakfast travel to Killarney, visiting Annesgrove Gardens on route, a 35 acre garden incorporating a walled and woodland garden, many rare and tender plants. Dinner and overnight at Castlerosse Hotel and leisure centre.

Day 3: Tuesday

Morning visit to Ilnacullin, Garnish Island. This famous subtropical paradise of some 37 acres is one of Ireland’s horticultural showpieces. Afternoon — visit to Glengarriff. Bamboo Park. Only a small garden but over 30 different varieties of bamboo’s and palm’s. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 4: Wednesday

Morning visit to Glanleam Gardens, 40 acres of jungle-like beauty, outstanding collection of southern hemisphere plants. Afternoon visit to Dunloe Castle Gardens. Extensive range of trees and shrubs. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 5: Thursday

Morning to Muckcross, shrubbery, walled Garden, Lake and woodland garden. Afternoon to Bantry House. A Victorian garden created around 1844-48, an Italian garden. Dramatical rising terraces lead to the stairway to the sky. Return to Hotel for dinner.

Day 6: Friday

Sadly we leave Killarney and travel home to Pembrokeshire but not before seeing some natural beauty of Ireland as we take you home via Limerick. Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. Arriving home in the early morning.
