Gardens of South Somerset

Escorted Tour to Gardens of South Somerset, Depart Sunday 17th June 2007

Day 1: Sunday

Depart Haverfordwest, pick up point, Johnston, Milford Haven, Steynton, Neyland, Pembroke, Lamphey and Kilgetty. Travel to south Somerset visiting Cothay manor early afternoon. A magical, romantic garden Many Garden rooms, bog garden, fine trees, cottage garden, courtyards and river walk. A Plantmans Paradise.

Day 2: Monday

Morning visit to East Lambrook Manor. This internationally famous Grade I listed English Cottage Garden, was designed by the late Margery Fish Afternoon, Barrington Court N.T is an enchanting formal garden, influenced by Gertrude Jerky li. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 3: Tuesday

Lower Severalls in the morning, an original garden set in front of an 18th century Hamston farm house. A profusion of herbaceous borders. Afternoon to Forde Abbey, 30 acres of gardens, magnificent trees, bog garden, rock garden, walled kitchen garden and Ionic Temple.

Day 4: Wednesday

Morning visit to Lytes Cary N.T, once the home of medieval herbalist Henry Lyte. The borders are planted with mixed shrubs, roses and perennials. Afternoon to Tintinhull N.T, this small manor house garden , designed by Mrs. Phyllis Reiss and is divided into seven room’s by clipped yew hedges. An inspirational garden.

Day 5: Thursday

Morning visit to Sherbourne Castle and Gardens. The grounds and Lake created by Lancelot Capability Brown in 1753. Afternoon to Montacute N.T. A fine Elizabethan House is complimented by the formal mixed borders. Fig walk, orangery and lots more.

Day 6: Friday

After breakfast we leave from home via Sheppy’s Cider Farm, Taunton. Then onto Hestercombe Gardens. 40 acres of walks, streams, woodlands and Temples. Edwardian gardens designed by Lytyens and JekylL We should be home late evening.


£275.00 Per person sharing a twin room. Includes Coach Travel and hotel on half-board basis, dinner on the first day to breakfast on the last day.
